The Colorado Buffaloes suffered their most significant transfer portal loss Monday evening, with freshman All-American left tackle Jordan Seaton announcing on social media that he is entering the transfer portal.
Seaton was Colorado’s highest-rated signee in more than a decade and will now finish his college career elsewhere after two seasons in Boulder. The departure is massive for the Buffs, who were trying to build a strong core of players led by redshirt freshman quarterback Julian Lewis and Seaton.

The 6-foot-5, 330-pound tackle was a five-star recruit and No. 13 overall player in the class of 2024 per 247Sports. He was also the nation’s No. 1 offensive tackle and will immediately become the transfer portal’s No. 1 tackle.
As a true freshman in 2024, he started all 13 games at left tackle, earning Freshman All-American honors. Last year, he was once again one of college football’s top pass protectors, posting an 83.9 grade according to Pro Football Focus. His run blocking (52 grade from PFF) was a different story, and like most of CU’s offensive line, Seaton struggled. His play still earned him All-Big 12 honors and a midseason All-American.
Seaton entered the portal 10 days after it opened, leaving many fans and likely Colorado staff members believing he was committed to the 2026 season. The timing is unusual and suggests that Seaton received a hefty payday from a specific school.

While the loss is significant, the Buffaloes have brought in three Power Four offensive tackles with considerable starting experience. Perhaps Deion Sanders and company were covering all their bases, but it is tough news after an impressive transfer portal window thus far.
Seaton will now have a long list of suitors, which likely starts with every top program in college football.
