We’ve made it through the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs, which means the stakes are even higher as we head into the second weekend, the Divisional Round.
How to Watch
Watch Sunday Night Football on NBC and streaming on Peacock.
Only eight teams remain as the NFL heads into round two, and by the end of the weekend that number will be cut in half as the Conference Championship teams are decided in four games across two days. So, which teams are still in, who plays who, and when can you catch each matchup, including the huge Sunday Night Football matchup between the Rams and Bears? Let’s take a closer look at the Divisional Round.

How the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs work
Just like the Wild Card round, Divisional matchups are determined by the seed numbers assigned to each team at the start of the postseason. The highest seed plays the lowest, and the second-highest plays the second lowest. But there is an added wrinkle to this round, in that the Number 1 overall seeds from each conference now enter the picture.
The reward for being the top seed in a conference is home field advantage all through the playoffs, but it’s also a chance to rest up through the Wild Card round while all the other teams battle it out for the chance to play you. That means the AFC 1-Seed Denver Broncos and the NFC 1-Seed Seattle Seahawks are heading into round two quite a bit fresher than their opponents, and they get to play at home.
The winners of these games will advance to the Conference Championships next week, and from there it’s on to the Super Bowl in Santa Clara, California (coming to you live on NBC and Peacock)!

Who’s in the 2026 Divisional Playoffs?
We’ve already talked about the Broncos and the Seahawks, sittin’ pretty on top with their Number 1 seed privileges, so who else made it past the Wild Card round?
In the NFC, the 2-seed Chicago Bears defeated the Green Bay Packers in an absolute thriller to advance, while the 5-seed Los Angeles Rams survived a very tough Carolina squad and made it the second level. Then there’s the 6-seed San Francisco 49ers, who upset the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles, ensuring that we will not get repeat champions in the Big Game this year.
In the AFC, the 2-seed New England Patriots handily defeated the Chargers, while the 5-seed Houston Texans dominated the Steelers in the final Wild Card of the season. Rounding out that half of the Divisional round are the 6-seed Buffalo Bills, who upset the Jacksonville Jaguars in a thriller to advance.
