A former Carolina Panthers wideout has called it quits.

Adam Thielen, who played for the Panthers from 2023 to 2024, announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday. The 35-year-old posted the following on his Instagram page this afternoon:

The Detroit Lakes, Minn. native and Minnesota State University alum spent the first 10 seasons of his NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings. He amassed one second-team All-Pro nod (2017) and two Pro Bowl selections (2017 and 2018), and departed after the 2022 campaign as the franchise’s fourth-leading receiver (6,682 yards).

Thielen then signed with the Panthers on a three-year deal in the spring of 2023. He’d go on to lead the team in receiving in his two seasons there, totaling 1,629 yards and nine touchdowns on 151 catches.

Carolina, per his wishes, would trade Thielen back to Minnesota this past summer. The deal sent Thielen, a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick to the Vikings for a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 fourth-round pick.

Minnesota, per more of his wishes, waived Thielen in early December. He’d be picked up by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
