The Atlanta Falcons are searching for a new head coach and general manager, but they have heavy competition with eight other coaching vacancies around the NFL. What was initially considered a poor candidate pool has been flooded with experienced coaches in recent weeks.

John Harbaugh, Mike Tomlin and Kevin Stefanski are all available, but two former Atlanta Falcons head coaches have been drawing interest as well. According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Arizona Cardinals and the Tennessee Titans have requested to interview Arthur Smith for their head coaching vacancies.

Smith, who was fired by the Falcons following the 2023 NFL season, spent the last two seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers. With head coach Mike Tomlin stepping down on Tuesday, there’s no guarantee that Smith will be retained by the team’s next coaching staff.

Former Falcons head coach Raheem Morris is also drawing interest during this NFL hiring cycle. Morris, who was fired by Atlanta after two seasons, completed an in-person interview with the Titans on Monday. Morris will also meet with the New York Giants and the Cardinals.

Will either former Falcons head coach land a job? Considering there are nine openings, it’s certainly a possibility.

As for the Falcons, they introduced Matt Ryan as their president of football on Tuesday and have interviewed six candidates for their head coaching vacancy.
