It seems like Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is about to have a busy offseason.
During a launch event for Fanatics Studios, Daniels was announced as a flag football captain for the Flag Football Classic in Saudi Arabia taking place on March 21. Daniels joined Tom Brady, who is captaining another squad in the event, on stage for the announcement.
“As a retired quarterback, there’s nobody I love seeing out there playing on the field than Jayden,” Brady told Daniels and the crowd. “That’s enough nice things I’ll say about you, because I’m wondering if your mom is going to let you come to Riyadh and play football.”
There will be a third captain as well that has yet to be announced. Sean Payton, Kyle Shanahan, and Pete Carroll are coaching the teams, and current and former players like Maxx Crosby, Rob Gronkowski, Saquon Barkley, and others will also participate.
Per Fox Sports, the games will follow Olympic-style flag football rules with a five-on-five format played on a 50-yard field and two 20-minute halves. Each team will have a total of eight players on its roster. Fox Sports and Tubi will broadcast the game.

This flag football match will be Daniels’ return to the field after being shut down to end the 2025 season. Daniels ended up playing in just seven games in 2025 and threw for 1,262 yards with eight touchdowns and three interceptions. Daniels dealt with multiple injuries and didn’t play again after Week 14.
It was a disappointing season for Daniels and the Commanders, and both coordinators got fired after the season. Despite the tough campaign, it’s clear that Daniels is still highly respected in league circles, and being a favorite of Brady certainly speaks volumes.
