Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons missed the NFL playoffs after notching an 8-9 regular-season record in 2025.

Cousins took over the Falcons’ starting QB job in Week 12 after Michael Penix Jr. underwent season-ending knee surgery. Atlanta won each of its final four games to close out the year, narrowly missing the postseason despite boasting the same record as the NFC South-champion Carolina Panthers.

While Cousins won’t be taking the field in this year’s postseason, he will be staying active through the playoffs.

On Wednesday, Cousins announced that he will join CBS as a guest analyst for the network’s coverage of the divisional round and AFC Championship game.

The 37-year-old signal caller shared the news on his Instagram page.

The Falcons are heading into new territory this offseason. After yet another losing season, team owner Arthur Blank fired both general manager Terry Fontenot and head coach Raheem Morris. The team hired former Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan, who’s now tasked with finding the organization’s next GM and head coach as President of Football.

Ryan left his spot with CBS’ “The NFL Today” to take his new position with the Falcons. Now, Cousins will fill that void for the postseason.

Earlier this week, the Falcons reportedly restructured Cousins’ contract to free up cap space heading into the 2026 season. The team reduced his 2026 salary from $35 million to $2.1 million. A guaranteed $67.9 million for the 2027 season will vest on March 13, making that the deadline for Atlanta’s decision regarding Cousins’ future.

This won’t be Cousins’ first TV experience. Last year, he joined ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown” for coverage of the divisional round matchup between the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs.

Cousins will be in the studio for coverage of Saturday’s divisional round matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos. The following Sunday, he’ll return to the studio for the AFC Championship game.
