As the Detroit Lions‘ offseason begins, linebacker Alex Anzalone welcomed a new member to his growing family on Jan. 13, with the birth of his third child.
The nine-year veteran linebacker has been an anchor for Lions head coach Dan Campbell’s defense over the past five seasons in Detroit after signing with the team as a free agent from New Orleans in 2021.
Since joining the Lions, Anzalone has started all 73 games in which he has appeared, missing 12 total contests over that stretch.
Anzalone has tallied 490 tackles, 33 passes defended, 32 quarterback hits, 26 tackles for loss, nine sacks, three interceptions, and two fumble recoveries across his half-decade in the Motor City.
During the 2025 campaign, Anzalone recorded 95 tackles, nine passes defended, six quarterback hits, four tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and one interception in 16 games (all starts).

As Anzalone enters this offseason as an unrestriced free agent, general manager Brad Holmes will have to make the important decision on whether to re-sign the impactful defensive star or if the Lions will let him test the open market.
