Context is important, especially on the internet.

Following his viral comment on Fred Warner’s Instagram photo that appeared to taunt the 49ers star, Seattle Seahawks linebacker Uchenna Nwosu is clearing the air.

“That’s my guy for real,” Nwosu said of Warner on Wednesday, via Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. “I’ve known Fred since high school.”

San Francisco fans took issue with Nwosu posting “The road ends here brother” under Warner’s celebratory Instagram post after the 49ers’ NFC wild-card win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

As Warner attempts a playoff return with an eye on the NFC Championship Game should the 49ers advance, Nwosu’s jab seemed like it was meant to dampen those hopes as the two teams prepare to face off in the divisional round.

Even Seahawks fans were reveling in the perceived trash talk ahead of a huge postseason game.

‘The road ends here brother’

I love having this confident Seahawks defense back in my life 🔥

The apparent diss didn’t seem abnormal for two NFC West rivals, but as Condotta relayed, Nwosu said it simply was a playful jab and didn’t expect the comment to cause such a stir.

“I didn’t realize it was going to go so viral,” Nwosu said, adding “everything goes viral.”

Nwosu and Warner’s friendship dates back to 2014, per Condotta, when the NFL defenders were high school standouts at neighboring Southern California campuses and bonded during a joint recruiting trip to USC.

“We were sitting right next to each other deciding where to go to college,’’ Nwosu said. “He chose BYU and I chose SC. Yeah I’ve known Fred a long time. There’s no bad blood with Fred at all. That’s my guy.”

The 49ers officially opened Warner’s practice window Tuesday, three months after he sustained a fractured and dislocated ankle in Week 6 of the regular season. The team is playing it safe and won’t push a return for the All-Pro, though he was moving well during practice in Santa Clara on Wednesday.

Even with the 49ers captain on the sideline, there’s no doubt it will be all love between Warner and Nwosu on Saturday at Lumen Field — until kickoff, that is.
