The Los Angeles Rams are focused on the 2025 playoffs right now, but soon they’ll be looking at the 2026 NFL draft.
Sean McVay’s team has two picks in the first round — at No. 13 from the Atlanta Falcons and somewhere between Nos. 25 and 32, depending on where L.A. finishes this year. The Rams can go in a few different directions here, between packaging those picks to move up, or for a veteran, or even trading back to pick up even more picks.
For now, though, let’s assume the Rams stay pat with their draft spots. Pro Football Focus’ Max Chadwick found a “perfect draft pick” for all 32 teams, depending on where they’re picking in the first round, and landed on Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy at No. 13.
It’s hard to find many weaknesses for the Rams — the NFL’s highest-graded team (96.1) — but they could stand to upgrade their cornerback room, as it hasn’t featured a true shutdown player since the team traded Jalen Ramsey in 2023.
Even though McCoy missed all of the 2025 season with a torn ACL, he was still outstanding as a true sophomore in 2024, earning an 89.6 PFF coverage grade (ninth best in FBS).
This will be the position circled on everyone’s draft board for L.A. It will likely be their biggest need heading into the draft unless quarterback Matthew Stafford retires.

McCoy would make a lot of sense for the Rams, too, given his pedigree when healthy. McCoy tallied six interceptions and 16 defended passes in 25 games over two seasons before his knee injury. If he’s 100% by the start of the 2026 season, he could certainly compete for a starting role in the Rams’ secondary.
It’s unclear who the Rams will even have in that unit when next season begins. Cobie Durant, Ahkello Witherspoon and Roger McCreary are impending free agents, while Darious Williams won’t have any guaranteed money left on his contract for 2026.
This unit gave up 250 passing yards to Bryce Young in the wild-card round. They’ll need an upgrade in 2026.
