Xavier Worthy shares news of surgery after injury-filled 2025 season

  • January 15, 2026

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Just three plays into the 2025 Kansas City Chiefs season, wide receiver Xavier Worthy suffered a torn labrum in an unfortunate friendly fire incident running into tight end Travis Kelce.

Worthy sat out for multiple games and returned in Week 4, but battled the injury as well as ankle sprains throughout the 2025 season, his second in the NFL.

On Wednesday, Worthy shared that he’s progressing toward a more permanent remedy to the shoulder issue than the brace he wore throughout the season.

“Successful surgery,” Worthy posted on X Wednesday afternoon. “Coming for it all next year let’s work road to recovery.”

Worthy also posted an Instagram story that featured his arm in a sling.

With the injuries factoring into play, Worthy participated in 14 games, though that total includes a game credited for the three snaps he played in the season-opening loss in Brazil against the Los Angeles Chargers.

In those games, Worthy had 42 receptions for 532 yards and a touchdown. Each of those three statistics were lower than during his rookie season.

“Keep doubting me y’all are making a monster!” he also tweeted.

The 2024 first-round pick of the Chiefs will enter year three in Kansas City next season.
