Tigers in the NFL Playoffs: Safety / LB Isaiah Simmons. The NFL Wildcard round has concluded and multiple former Clemson Tigers have made themselves known on the gridiron. Here we’ll talk about Isaiah Simmons who played for Clemson from 2016-2019 who is an athletic defender who transitioned from safety in 2017 to the starting nickel / SAM linebacker position in 2018 and was eventually named the Butkus Award winner as the nation’s top linebacker in 2019 in only his second year at the position. He was then drafted eighth overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Although the final result didn’t end in the favor of the Carolina Panthers Simmons made his presence on the field known. Deep into the fourth quarter Simmons blocked a punt from Rams punter Ethan Evans which led to a Jalen Coker touchdown putting the Panthers up 30-27 which only wasn’t the game-winning drive thanks to late game heroics from the current MVP frontrunner QB Matthew Stafford.
