Jim Harbaugh is entering his third year as head coach of the LA Chargers

After losing the AFC wildcard game to the New England Patriots, the Los Angeles Chargers announced that they were parting ways with offensive coordinator Greg Roman.

The Bolts’ offense experienced some regression with Roman as offensive coordinator. In his first season as OC, the Chargers offense averaged 23.6 points per game, the 11th-highest in the league. Under Roman in the 2025-26 season, the offense averaged 21.6 points per game, the 20th-most in the NFL.

What can be the biggest contributing factor to Roman’s dismissal was the Chargers’ postseason production with him as offensive coordinator.

In the 2024-25 playoffs, the Chargers scored just 12 points in the AFC Wild Card loss to the Houston Texans, who put up 32 points against LA. In the 2025-26 playoffs against the Patriots, a mere 3 points.

Looking ahead to the 2026 season, the Bolts have begun their search for their next offensive coordinator.

Chargers Could Go With Internal PromotionJim Harbaugh

Los Angeles announced that it has interviewed Marcus Brady, who serves as the pass game coordinator for the Bolts, leading to a possible internal hire for the vacant offensive coordinator position.

Brady was hired as the pass game coordinator when Harbaugh was brought over to take the helm of the Chargers franchise.

In the 2024 season, LA had the 19th-best, averaging 212.4 yards per game. This season, the pass game averaged 212.2 per game, the 18th-best in the game.

While a slate regression for the Chargers offense, not all can be blamed on Brady’s pass game, as the Bolts were dealing with the season-ending injuries of Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater; Justin Herbert was sacked 54 times this season, the third most in the league.

Having an internal hire would be great for Herbert, who won’t have to deal with the process of getting accustomed to an entirely new offensive system.

Brady has previous experience at the offensive coordinator spot, having served as the Indianapolis Colts’ OC during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

The pass game coordinator is the only person known so far that the Chargers have interviewed for the vacant offensive coordinator spot.

Defensive Coordinator Getting HC InterviewsJesse Minter

Another day has passed and Chargers defensive coordinators have received more head coaching interviews from teams in need of one.

The Atlanta Falcons became the most recent team in the NFL to interview Jesse Minter to become the next head coach of their franchise.

Falcons, who parted ways with Raheem Morris, could have back-to-back defensive-minded coaches as HC.

With various teams asking for Minter’s coaching abilities, the Los Angeles Chargers start thinking of options on who will take Minter’s role if he leaves.

The Bolts could go with an internal hire as they are currently looking at with Marcus Brady at the OC spot.
