Few would argue the Los Angeles Chargers are in a much better spot currently under head coach John Harbaugh than they were under his predecessor Brandon Staley.
But the problem is the Chargers have gone 11-6 and been eliminated from the postseason in the wild-card round of the playoffs in both of Harbaugh’s first two seasons.
Clearly, something has to change foe L.A. to take that next step from playoff team to legit Super Bowl contender.
Some have speculated Harbaugh needs to shake up his coaching staff. Well, that happened on Thursday, though Harbaugh didn’t exactly play a role in his departure.

According to Ari Meirov of the 33rd Team, the Chargers will be looking for a new linebackers coach heading into the offseason.
“#Chargers LBs coach NaVorro Bowman has decided to step away from coaching to be more involved in his son’s future. His son is a top-ranked high school basketball player,” Meirov reported.
Bowman played under Harbaugh with the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014.

During that time, Bowman made three All-Pro teams and two Pro Bowls, and he totaled 436 tackles, 23 passes defensed, nine sacks, five forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, and three interceptions.
Under Bowman’s leadership, Daiyan Henley and Troy Dye saw major leaps in their development. Henley totaled just 16 tackles in 15 games as a rookie in 2023, but jumped to 147 tackles in 2024 and 103 tackles this season — leading the team in that category both years.
Conversely, Dye had never more than 28 tackles in a season in his first three years, but jumped to 57 last year and 58 this year, while also becoming a much more effective run-stuffer.
