Jim Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers are in the market for a new offensive play-caller this offseason.

After the Chargers suffered a 16-3 loss to the New England Patriots in the opening round of the playoffs, Harbaugh made the tough decision to fire offensive coordinator Greg Roman. His offense ranked 12th in yards and 20th in points per game this season.

“There was much that was done well, much that was done really good. Multiple line combinations, that was true. It was very hard, very tough. The NFL is unforgiving, it’s unfair, it’s hard, that’s the nature of the business,” Harbaugh said. “What we feel like is a direction that’s going to make us better, we’re always striving for that.”

The Chargers have already interviewed former Titans head coach Brian Callahan this week. He had a 4-19 record before getting fired by Tennessee this past October. Judging by the responses online, Los Angeles fans don’t want him joining Harbaugh’s staff.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Chargers are also interested in former Giants head coach Brian Daboll. The 2022 Coach of the Year finished his four-year run in New York with a 20-40-1 record.

Chargers fans have made it known they want Daboll on Harbaugh’s staff next fall.

“Please yes. This would be awesome,” one fan commented.

“My number two choice for OC. Would love to see him operate an offense with Justin Herbert,” another fan said.

“THROW HIM THE BAG,” a Chargers fan wrote on X.

There’s competition for Daboll.

The Titans have already interviewed Daboll for their head coaching job. It’s unclear where he ranks among their candidates though.

Daboll has also been linked to the Philadelphia Eagles and their offensive coordinator vacancy. He was Jalen Hurts‘ quarterbacks coach at Alabama in 2017.,

If the Chargers truly want Daboll, they’ll have to make one heck of a recruiting pitch.
