Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos are heading to the conference championship. This is after the Broncos took down Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round on Saturday, 33-30. The thrilling contest required an extra period to determine a winner. In the end, the Broncos prevailed to book their spot in the next round against either the New England Patriots or the Houston Texans.
Nix turned in a strong performance in the win. The 25-year-old quarterback registered 26-of-46 completed passes for 279 yards, three touchdowns and one interception, adding 29 yards on the ground on 12 carries.

Nix was involved in a contentious incident late in overtime. It turned out to be a pivotal moment in the contest, which ultimately led to a game-winning field goal by the Broncos.
With 6:09 left in overtime, Nix threw an incomplete pass to wide receiver Courtland Sutton. As he released the pass, Bills defensive end Joey Bosa came in with a late tackle, resulting in a roughing the passer penalty against the Buffalo star.
According to the NFL rulebook, “any physical acts against a player who is in a passing posture (i.e. before, during, or after attempting a pass) which, in the game official’s judgment, are unwarranted by the circumstances of the play will be called as fouls.”

Bosa is now bracing for a punishment decision from the NFL for his personal foul on Nix. The league will review this incident to determine if the foul was excessive enough to warrant a fine. Per league rules, a roughing the passer penalty can be subjected to a fine of $17,389 for a first offense and $23,186 for a second.
Bosa has already been fined for a roughing the passer penalty earlier this season. The five-time Pro Bowler was fined $17,389 for a foul on Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield in Week 11.

The Broncos opted to decline the 15-yard penalty on Bosa’s roughing the passer infraction. There were two fouls on the play. Bills cornerback Taron Johnson was flagged for defensive pass interference against Sutton. Denver accepted that penalty, resulting in an automatic first down.
The Broncos ended the drive with a 23-yard, game-winning field goal by Wil Lutz.
It’s the end of the line for Bosa and the Bills, who have now been eliminated from the playoffs. Nix and the Broncos, on the other hand, will host the conference championship game at Empower Field at Mile High on Sunday.
