The Indianapolis Colts seem to know exactly the direction they want to go at quarterback this offseason.

During head coach Shane Steichen’s end-of-season press conference on Monday, Steichen said that he believes that Daniel Jones will want to come back and that the team would like to have him back.

Jones is set to be a free agent this offseason.

It’s easy to see why the Colts want Jones back. Through 10 games this season, Jones was playing at a high level and the Colts had one of the most productive offenses in football.

Jones provided that stability at the quarterback position that the team had been searching for.

Jones suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 14 against Jacksonville. However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Jones is “expected” to be cleared by training camp.

One potential hurdle that could pop up is negotiating Jones’ next contract with the team while coming off a major injury.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler discussed this topic recently.
