ROCK HILL — A quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers is headed to the Hall of Fame.

But not the one in Canton, Ohio. Instead, it’s in Rock Hill.

Mason Rudolph, who played football at Northwestern High School, leading to his college and professional career, is part of the eight-member 2026 class to be inducted into the York County Sports Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony is set for May 13, Visit York County said.

Portraits featuring brief biographies for the inductees line the walls of the basketball court at the YMCA on Charlotte Avenue. That YMCA is the home office for Lamar Thompson, who has been director of the Upper Palmetto YMCA for 16 years. And, alongside Rudolph, the former state champion wrestler for Rock Hill High School is joining the Hall of Fame.

The 2026 class also includes a few other NFL veterans, such as Lamont Hall and Ko Simpson.

The York County Sports Hall of Fame Selection Committee determines the inductees. The other honorees are former Winthrop mens basketball coach Gregg Marshall, high school football and baseball coach Arthur “Buck” Schwing, track and field coach Calvin Hudgins and pro boxer Shane Benfield.

“This year’s class includes three coaches who collectively bring more than 100 years of experience, along with five athletes who competed at the highest levels of football, boxing and wrestling,” Chris Miller, selection committee chair, said. “Beyond their accomplishments, these inductees continue to serve our community by mentoring and coaching youth programs in the area, giving us yet another reason to be proud to call York County home.”

The banquet will be held at 6 p.m. on May 13 at the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center. Tickets are $50 each.
