Before going down with a broken ankle, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix matched a bit of franchise history, something which hasn’t happened since 2011.

Nix joined fellow SEC star quarterback Tim Tebow as just the second quarterback ever drafted by the Broncos to win a playoff game with the franchise. Tebow was drafted by Denver with the 25th overall selection in the 2010 NFL draft.

It does feel hard to believe that Nix and Tebow are the only two drafted quarterbacks to win a postseason game for Denver. But most of the signal-callers to win a playoff game weren’t drafted by Denver.

John Elway and Peyton Manning were drafted by the Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts. Craig Morton, who led the Broncos to their first playoff win in franchise history, was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys and Jake Plummer was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals.

Tebow led the Broncos to a miraculous victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2011, an overtime victory with an 80-yard touchdown strike to late Ring of Famer Demaryius Thomas on the first play of the extra session. Ironically, Nix led the Broncos to their latest postseason victory, also in overtime.

Let’s hope this is the first of many more playoff victories to come.

Denver will now host the New England Patriots in the AFC championship game on Sunday, Jan. 25.
