The Kansas City Chiefs hired Chicago Bears running back coach Eric Bieniemy to become their offensive coordinator on Monday.

This is Bieniemy’s second stint with the Chiefs, with his first tenure lasting from 2013 to 2022.

From 2013 to 2017, he was the team’s running backs coach and was the offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2022.

During his time as the Chiefs’ offensive play caller, the team won Super Bowl LIV over the San Francisco 49ers and oversaw quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ development as a young signal caller.

Since his first stint with Kansas City, Bieniemy served as the Washington Commanders assistant head coach and offensive coordinator in 2023, then in the same roles at UCLA in 2024. He had also coached at UCLA previously from 2003 to 2005.

Bieniemy takes over for Matt Nagy, who served as the offensive coordinator for the team since 2023.

Bieniemy will look to help the Chiefs bounce back from a disappointing 6-11 season.
