KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Eric Bieniemy is reportedly reuniting with the Kansas City Chiefs as the team’s offensive coordinator, per NFL insider Tom Pelissero.
Pelissero says “all signs” point to Bieniemy rejoining Andy Reid’s squad.
Earlier Monday, ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter broke the news of the Chiefs requesting an interview with their former coordinator.
Report: ‘All signs’ point to Eric Bieniemy reuniting with Chiefs
Bieniemy, 56, served as the Chiefs’ running backs coach from 2013-17 before transitioning to the offensive coordinator role from 2018-22.
He ultimately left in search of a head coaching position. However, that dream never came to fruition.
During his time away from the Chiefs, Bieniemy spent one season as the offensive coordinator of the Washington Commanders, one season as the offensive coordinator/associate head coach at UCLA, and one season as the running backs coach for the Chicago Bears, which were eliminated from the playoffs Sunday by the Los Angeles Rams.
In 2023, when Bieniemy’s departure from KC was clear, Reid said he hoped Bieniemy could find an opportunity that allowed him to “run the show and be Eric Bieniemy.”

Matt Nagy took over as offensive coordinator after Bieniemy.
With Nagy’s contract expiring, several teams have attempted to court him, including the Titans, where he is reportedly a finalist for the head coach job.
