The Chicago Bears were defeated by the Los Angeles Rams, 20-17, in overtime in a divisional playoff game. It brought an end to a magical 2025 season, but the future is certainly bright in Chicago.
After nearly completing another improbable comeback against the Rams on Sunday night, the Bears season ended peacefully, leaving fans at Soldier Field taking it all in after the final whistle, and plenty of reason for optimism in Chicago. There were several big roster changes coming into the game against Los Angeles, including a shuffling of the offensive line that was highlighted by some high, and some low, performances.
Here’s a look at the best and worst from the Bears offense and defense following Sunday’s divisional playoff loss.
Best offense gradesRG Jonah Jackson: 78.9WR DJ Moore: 77.5WR Olamide Zaccheaus: 69.2RB Kyle Monangai: 68.9RB D’Andre Swift: 67.6Need a news break? Check out the all new PLAY hub with puzzles, games and more!
Even with the shuffling of the offensive line, Jonah Jackson played incredibly well, as did the offensive line as a whole for the most part. A big reason for Chicago’s success in moving the football during the loss was the success of the running game with the play of both Kyle Monangai and D’Andre Swift, who were the workhorses that turned around the team’s running game this season.

Jaquan Brisker was all over the field against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night, and alongside with Kevin Byard, the two safeties were at the top of their game. Dominique Robinson did not see a ton of playing time, but he had very explosive plays when he was on the field. Austin Booker continued his strong play to close out the season, one of the young bright spots on the defensive line.
Worst offense gradesOT Theo Benedet: 30.0C Drew Dalman: 44.1WR Luther Burden III: 59.8TE Durham Smythe: 61.3LT Joe Thuney: 61.9
Most of the players on this list, Theo Benedet, Durham Smythe, and Joe Thuney were asked to do things different than their normal expectations on Sunday night. With Chicago shuffling their offensive line, Thuney was moved to left tackle and did well in pass protection, but the Bears opted not to run a lot of plays to the left side of the line. Benedet and Smythe were used on trick plays and didn’t produce much of anything.

The interior of the Bears defensive line didn’t do much to create pressure against the Los Angeles Rams, which is why there are several defensive tackles listed on this one. Seeing Tremaine Edmunds on the list is a bit discouraging, as he had more opportunities with T.J. Edwards lost for the season, but he struggled at times in pass coverage and his performance certainly left more to be desired.
