The Green Bay Packers released former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs among a series of roster moves announced on Tuesday.
Diggs, who was claimed off waivers from the Cowboys ahead of the regular season finale earlier this month, played 33 snaps for the Packers against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18 but then saw the field for only one defensive snap in the NFC Wild Card Round against the Chicago Bears.
The move was purely financial. Diggs was due a $14.5 million base salary in 2026, and the Packers will now save over $15 million on the salary cap with no dead money penalty because Diggs had no guaranteed money left on his deal.
The Packers paid Diggs roughly a half million dollars to finish out the 2025 season. He was claimed off waivers as the team navigated multiple injuries at cornerback, providing the roster an experienced player at the position as a backup option behind Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine entering the postseason.
Diggs was on the field for just one snap against the Bears, a 3rd-and-8 play that was converted on a wide receiver screen to Diggs’ side of the field in the first quarter.

It’s unclear if Diggs and the Packers discussed a restructured deal before the release. It’s possible Diggs had more interest in testing the open market as a free agent than immediately locking into a contract with the Packers.
Diggs, a close friend of Micah Parsons, played his first six seasons with the Cowboys. He will become a free agent and can sign with any team.
The Packers also signed quarterback Kyle McCord and defensive lineman Jalen Crumedy.
