Going into the NFL’s conference championship weekend, the Denver Broncos have a -2.0 Football Power Index (FPI) rating from ESPN, which ranks last among the four remaining playoff teams.
FPI is “a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season,” according to ESPN.com.

“FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule.”
So with that background in mind, here’s a look at how the league’s four remaining teams stack up based on FPI ratings going into the AFC and NFC title games.

Denver finished the regular season ranked 11th out of 32 teams with a 2.5 FPI rating. That was before starting quarterback Bo Nix suffered a season-ending ankle injury in the divisional round of the playoffs.
