Pro Football Focus ranked all 32 starting quarterbacks ahead of the 2025 NFL season. So, where did the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence land?

Along with ranking each quarterback 1-32, John Kosko put the quarterbacks into tiers as well. Lawrence came in at No. 16 on Kosko’s list and in Tier 3b titled, “Solid starters but they need more help.”

“Trevor Lawrence might be the biggest wild card in this tier,” wrote Kosko. “The talent is undeniable, but he’s yet to show the consistent high-level play needed to elevate himself and the Jaguars into the NFL’s elite. His 79.7 overall grade in 2023 was a career high, and now he’ll have Brian Thomas Jr. and Travis Hunter as his top targets with Liam Coen taking over.”

Putting more help around Lawrence has been the main point of emphasis this offseason for the Jaguars.

It all started when they hired Liam Coen to be the next head coach. Coen brings in a Sean McVay-esque offensive scheme that keeps defenses off-balanced and guessing by being multiple, and throwing a variety of different looks at them, which can then open up opportunities for Lawrence to exploit.

As Lawrence said after Monday’s OTAs practice, this new offense gives him all the answers at the line of scrimmage.

“I really like it,” Lawrence said after Monday’s practice. “It has a lot of answers. It’s great. It puts a lot on the players, you have to know your stuff, but it gives you all the answers.”

“You don’t feel like you’re stuck in a play that’s not set up for success,” Lawrence added. “We change the presentation a lot. We make a lot of things look the same. Without going into too much detail, there’s a lot of things I like about it.”

Under new GM James Gladstone, the Jaguars have also reshaped their roster this offseason, with many of the moves made centered around providing “balance,” as Coen put it, around Lawrence.

This included making six additions to the offensive line between free agency and the NFL draft. The Jaguars also added a lot of speed and playmaking abilities to the offense as well by bringing in Travis Hunter, Dyami Brown, and two running backs, along with adding to the tight end room as well.

Ultimately, how good this Jaguars team is will be determined by Lawrence’s level of play. So, just as the Jaguars did, putting him in the best position to be successful took precedent during the offseason decision-making processes.
