KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – With the Kansas City Chiefs prepared to bring back Eric Bieniemy to be the team’s offensive coordinator once again, one of the franchise’s biggest voices provided a glowing review of the move.
On Wednesday’s newest episode of the New Heights podcast with the Kelce brothers, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce shared a positive review of reports Bieniemy will return as the offensive coordinator.
“I love that s—,” Kelce said of Bieniemy’s tough love coaching style. “I think it’s great. I think it’s a marriage that’s going to pick up right where it left off.”
Bieniemy spent the last three seasons at three different jobs, going from Washington Commanders offensive coordinator in 2023, to UCLA offensive coordinator in 2024 and Chicago Bears running backs coach in 2025. He coached in Kansas City from 2013 to 2022, spending five seasons as the running backs coach and five seasons as the offensive coordinator during his first stint with Andy Reid’s Chiefs.
“EB and who he is as a coach, you can see kind of his personality and what he brings to the table in that Chicago team,” Travis continued. “(Chicago Bears head coach) Ben Johnson has his own version of that. He’s a very tough guy and what he did in Detroit and brought over as well, you can see those running backs over in Chicago and their body of work was definitely an Eric Bieniemy style of football.”

Kelce’s comments and praise for Bieniemy also continue to leave Chiefs fans wondering whether the 36-year-old will decide to continue playing and put retirement on hold for a 14th NFL season.
“I can’t wait to see him back in the building,” Kelce said. “He’s one of my favorite coaches of all time, one of my favorite people of all time. I’ve had so many unbelievable growing moments under him as a player and as a person, and I just love the guy.
“It’s going to be awesome to see him back in the building and see him back wearing the Chiefs logo, baby.”
Jason Kelce noted he’s interested to see what concepts Bieniemy picked up during his time with Johnson and the Bears that can be brought back to the Chiefs to help the offense return to its prior form.
“I would be picking EB’s brain,” Jason said. “What did you learn? What do you think? And also, how has EB changed as a coach?”
