The Atlanta Falcons are expected to hire Tommy Rees as their new offensive coordinator, according to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Rees will join defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich on new head coach Kevin Stefanski’s coaching staff.
Rees previously served as the Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator under Stefanski in 2025 after joining the staff as an assistant in 2024. Prior to his stint in Cleveland, Rees was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Alabama in 2023, and held the same role at Notre Dame from 2020-2023.
Cleveland’s offense was largely a disaster in 2025, finishing 30th in yards per game (262.1) and 31st in total points (16.4 points per contest). The Browns went through three different quarterbacks last season as the team’s questionable draft strategy created a logjam at the position.
After drafting Dillon Gabriel in the third round, the Browns took Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round. This was after signing Joe Flacco and trading for Kenny Pickett. Not to mention, Cleveland still had Deshaun Watson on the roster taking up a massive chunk of salary cap space.
Stefanski began the year calling plays before relinquishing his duties to Rees after the team struggled.
