NIL conversations in the high school recruiting process are starting earlier than ever, and with more gray area than most fans realize.

While these prospects are still just less than a year from signing, several 2027 recruits told us schools have already discussed NIL structures, floated six to seven-figure valuations, and are often offering to cover unofficial visit costs.

Despite the market value steadily increasing year over year for these players, most recruits emphasized that playing time, development and long-term NFL preparation still outweigh chasing the biggest check.

We spoke with 11 top 2027 recruits, who offered candid insight into how they’re navigating agents, early NIL discussions, paid unofficial visits, their perceived market value and how much money actually factors into their decisions — all on the condition of anonymity.
