The Steelers are facing significant uncertainty this offseason about who will fill the head coach and quarterback roles for the upcoming season. However, whoever they choose to hire as head coach and whoever ends up playing quarterback will need a reliable No. 2 wide receiver to throw to.

Pittsburgh should be in good shape with DK Metcalf as the top receiver, but he will need a reliable partner. ESPN’s Mel Kiper might have the solution to that.

Kiper released a mock draft on Wednesday, predicting that the Steelers will select Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston with the 21st pick.

“So, let’s pivot to the rest of the offense and land a WR2 alongside DK Metcalf,” Kiper wrote. “We saw what happens when this offense loses Metcalf, as the Steelers managed just one passing touchdown over Weeks 17 and 18 while Metcalf was suspended.

“But Boston runs strong routes and uses his physicality to box out defenders and make plays on the ball. He had 11 touchdowns this past season, including seven in the red zone. He’d elevate the unit right out of the gate and take some weight off Metcalf.”

During four seasons in Washington, Boston recorded 132 receptions for 1,781 yards and 20 touchdowns across 43 games. The Steelers should consider drafting Boston, but they might also need to pick a rookie quarterback. They could go that route in the first round as well.
