COWHER AT PATRIOTS’ PRACTICE

The New England Patriots were one of the Steelers’ biggest rivals for much of the 2000s and 2010s. The Patriots were the cream of the crop in the AFC, so they often stood between the Steelers and a championship run. While both teams have changed a lot, the Patriots are already back on top. They’re facing the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game.

A familiar face for Steelers fans was at a recent Patriots practice, too. Tom Carroll of WEEI shared a video on Twitter showing Bill Cowher talking to Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. Vrabel played for Cowher for the first four years of his career, so the two have an established relationship. Cowher coached in plenty of big playoff games, so perhaps he gave Vrabel some advice.

DERRICK LEWIS TALKS TOMLIN

Mike Tomlin unfortunately ended his tenure as the Steelers’ head coach with a playoff loss. However, he added some more signature wins to his career during his final season in Pittsburgh. Oftentimes after wins, Tomlin would celebrate by pounding on his chest and blowing a kiss to the camera. He later revealed that it was a reference to mixed martial artist Derrick Lewis.

MMAFightingonSBN posted a video on YouTube of a recent interview by Lewis. He was asked about Tomlin, and he had nothing but good things to say. Lewis even revealed that he became a Steelers fan because of Tomlin. It’s a fun crossover between sports.

JAHEIM BELL SIGNS WITH EAGLES

Only four teams are left competing for a chance at winning the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, that doesn’t include the Steelers. That means they’re on to the offseason. While their priority is finding a new head coach, they also have the opportunity to sign players to reserve/future contracts.

The Philadelphia Eagles recently signed former Steelers tight end Jaheim Bell to a reserve/future contract. Bell joined the Steelers near the end of the season, so it was possible that they’d want him to stick around and have a chance to make the team next year. However, he opted to join the Eagles instead. He was with them earlier in the year, so the two sides are already familiar with each other.

TE Jaheim Bell, who ended the season on the Steelers practice squad, has signed a Reserve/Future contract with the Eagles, per the Wednesday NFL transaction sheet. #Steelers #NFL
