When is a new candidate for the Cardinals’ coaching search not a new name?
That’s what happened Wednesday morning, when it was reported that the Cardinals were bringing in Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile for an in-person interview — a second interview overall. It was the first time Campanile’s name had surfaced in connection with the Cardinals, however. It underscores that, because the Cardinals are not officially announcing candidates, every person they talk to won’t necessarily become public.
Campanile helped boost the Jaguars defense this season, getting them into the top 10 in scoring defense and No. 1 against the run.
The reported Cardinals candidate list thus far:
Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady
Patriots passing game coordinator Thomas Brown*
Texans defensive coordinator Matt Burke
Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile
Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph*
Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak*
Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur*
Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter
Ex-Falcons head coach Raheem Morris
Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy
Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula*
Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith
Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver
