Indianapolis Colts’ defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo will get another opportunity to interview for a head coaching opening.

According to The Athletic, the Buffalo Bills have requested to interview Anarumo for their head coaching job.

Buffalo moved on from long-time head coach Sean McDermott days after the team’s AFC divisional playoff loss to Denver. The Bills are currently in the early stages of their head coaching search.

This will be Anarumo’s third head coaching interview of this hiring cycle. He’s also interviewed with the New York Giants and the Tennessee Titans. Both of those vacancies have since been filled.

In Anarumo’s first season with the Colts, he’s had to navigate numerous injuries on the defensive side of the ball.

The Colts finished the 2025 season ranked 20th in points per game allowed and 17th in yards per play.

Anarumo runs a malleable and quick-to-adjust defensive scheme that adapts to what each opponent is doing and what his players do best. In part, that’s how he earned the nickname the “Mad Scientist” during his time in Cincinnati.
