The Tennessee Titans have been in the NFL since 1960. First, as the Houston Oilers until 1997, when the franchise moved from Houston to Memphis. They would be the Tennessee Oilers for two seasons until the team moved to Nashville and became the Titans.

Throughout all of those years, the Titans have never hired a minority head coach, making Robert Saleh the first minority head coach in franchise history.

Saleh is of Lebanese descent; his parents both immigrated to the United States before he was born. He can add this historical signing to his resume of “firsts” after he made history by being the NFL’s first Muslim head coach when he was hired by the New York Jets.

It is believed that Saleh and the Titans agreed to a five-year deal, but the full details of his contract have not been made public yet.
