Under the Sean McVay and Les Snead regime, the Los Angeles Rams have knocked some of their draft classes out of the park. Over the last nine years, they’ve drafted stars such as Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, Kyren Williams, Jared Verse and Kobie Turner.
While their 2022 class may not have been the cream of the crop, the Rams did find Williams, Quentin Lake and Cobie Durant that year. They’ve all started games for Los Angeles, as has Derion Kendrick – a sixth-rounder in 2022.
Now three years later, how has the Rams’ 2022 class fared? CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco regraded every team’s class from that draft and the Rams’ grade remains unchanged: B- in 2022 and B- now.
The Skinny: They didn’t draft until the third round after trading away picks to land veterans, including quarterback Matt Stafford. Of the eight picks they had, two will enter the season as starters, one might be and two others are backups. The listed starters are running back Kyren Williams (fifth) and safety-nickel Quentin Lake (sixth). Corner Cobie Durant (fourth), corner Derion Kendrick (sixth) and tackle A.J. Arcuri (seventh) are the backups, although Durant could start and has started a lot.
How I did: I liked the pick of Durant, who has been a solid player for them as he enters the final year of his contract. I liked Williams as a player, but questioned if it was a need. They were right. I also said they had to hit on the late-round picks, which they did.
There’s no doubt the Rams missed on their top pick, Logan Bruss, who was a third-rounder. He only played eight games for the Rams, making three starts – all coming in 2024. The Rams waived him in 2023 and signed him back to the practice squad, but they moved on for good last season when he was cut in November.
The Titans claimed him off waivers but he was released this April and remains a free agent.
Other players from that class were Daniel Hardy (7th round), Russ Yeast (7th round) and A.J. Arcuri (7th round). Only Durant, Williams, Lake, Kendrick and Arcuri have remained with the team, though Arcuri and Kendrick could be in danger of being cut this offseason.
