You are going to hear a lot of noise about how the Buffalo Bills need a #1 wide receiver this offseason. They’re not wrong. But there’s another position group that the Bills are going to need to address first if they hope to see the same success in 2026.
Brandon Beane definitely has his work cut out for him this year
The Bills have gone through a huge amount of change in just a couple of days. The pressure on Brandon Beane this year is going to be crazy. Not only does he have to pick a new head coach, but he’s got a lot of work to do on this roster.
While everyone is thinking about wide receiver (and they should), there’s another position group that needs some attention. As strange as it sounds to say after the Bills just put up the league’s best rusher, the offensive line will need some help.
The Bills could lose 4 linemen in free agency
The good news is that the Bills’ offensive tackles, Dion Dawkins, O’Cyrus Torrence, and Spencer Brown, are locked in for a couple more seasons. The bad news is that center Connor McGovern and guard David Edwards are free agents. They can go anywhere they want. Also, Ryan VanDemark and Alec Anderson are both restricted free agents, which means that they can visit with other teams, and if one of those teams wants them, the Bills will have the option to match their offer or let them go.
They also lost their offensive line coaches
One of the biggest losses came almost immediately after the Bills’ loss to the Broncos, when offensive line coach Aaron Kromer decided to retire. He has been a huge upgrade on that coaching staff, and he will be missed.
You can’t build a house on a bad foundation, and in football, that starts with your offensive line. The Bills definitely do need a wide receiver, but first, they’re going to want to get their line in order.
