The Los Angeles Chargers let the practice squad contracts of a pair of former Denver Broncos players expire, making them free agents.
L.A. opted not to sign running back Royce Freeman or defensive lineman Kyle Peko to reserve/future contracts, so those players are now free to join other clubs. Freeman (29) was drafted by the Broncos in the third round of the 2018 NFL draft out of Oregon. He rushed for 1,187 yards and eight touchdowns in 46 games with Denver. Peko (32) spent the first three years of his career with the Broncos and later had a second stint with the team, recording nine tackles in nine appearances.
Elsewhere on the ex-Denver player front, safety Omar Brown signed a reserve/future deal with the Miami Dolphins, international tight end Thomas Yassmin landed a reserve/future contract with the Chargers and edge defender Andrew Farmer received a reserve/future deal with the San Francisco 49ers.
The Broncos will also sign players to reserve/future contracts once their season ends. Most of Denver’s signings will likely come from their practice squad. Players who sign reserve/future deals officially join the team’s 90-man offseason when the new league year begins in March.
