Tom Brady praised a throw by Bears quarterback Caleb Williams as the best of the 2025 season. The throw in question was a game-winning overtime touchdown pass to DJ Moore in a Week 16 win over the Packers.Brady highlighted the difficulty of the 60-yard pass, which was made in 15-degree weather with 20 mph winds.Williams’ second season performance helped lead the Bears to their first NFC North title in eight years.
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams made some outstanding throws during his second season, most notably near the end of the season when he helped lead his team to their first playoff appearance since 2020, first NFC North title in eight years and first postseason win in 15 years.
In fact, future Hall of Famer and the GOAT himself, Tom Brady, hailed one of Williams’ throws the best he saw all season, and there’s plenty to choose from. Whether it was Williams’ sensational fourth-and-8 completion to Rome Odunze in a wild-card win over the Green Bay Packers or the improbable touchdown pass to Cole Kmet to force overtime in a divisional loss to the Los Angeles Rams. But, believe it or not, neither of those topped the list.
Brady went back to the Bears‘ Week 16 win over the Packers — which he called “one of the games of the year” — that included an improbable sequence of events that culminated with Williams connecting with wide receiver DJ Moore for the game-winning touchdown in overtime.
“He launches the ball from his own 45 yard line,” Brady said. “Keep in mind, it was about 15 degrees out and there was about a 20 miles-per-hour wind. The longer the ball’s in the air, the harder it is to throw it accurately and the harder it is to catch it. DJ Moore gets a step on the corner, Keisean Nixon, Caleb throws it back across the field 60 yards in the air. It was an absolutely perfect throw. A-plus throw. A moon ball for a walk-off win in Chicago.”
Brady saw plenty of Williams during the 2025 season, as he called several Bears games, and he was quite complementary of what he saw from the second-year quarterback. But Williams saved his best for last in that Week 16 win over the Packers that essentially won the NFC North and paved the way for their home playoff win over Green Bay a couple of weeks later.
