The Buffalo Bills interviewed former NFL quarterback Philip Rivers for their head coaching job on Friday. Baltimore Ravens legend Ed Reed then put his name in the mix later in the day.
Reed quoted the post about Rivers interviewing with the Bills and simply wrote: “I’m available.”
Ed Reed does have some experience coaching, including with the Buffalo Bills. He coached defensive backs in Buffalo in 2016, three years after retiring from the NFL. He has also previously been on staff at the University of Miami.
A former Hurricanes star, Reed was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He went on to win a Super Bowl with the Ravens and was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year during his time in Baltimore. Reed earned All-Pro honors eight times during his career and made the Pro Bowl nine times.
He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and College Football Hall of Fame.
While Reed posted that he is available to coach the Bills, Ravens fans commented asking him to come to Baltimore to coach, instead.
As for Philip Rivers, the 44-year-old played in the NFL this past season, starting three games for the Indianapolis Colts. Rivers threw for 544 yards and 4 touchdowns, with 3 interceptions.
A former high school coach, Rivers could be about to get an opportunity to lead an NFL franchise.
