During the Chicago Bears‘ magical run during the 2025 season, the team watched quarterback Caleb Williams grow and develop while captivating the entire city of Chicago and most of the NFL.

The seven fourth-quarter comebacks he engineered through the regular season and playoffs earned Williams the nickname, “Iceman” and even more than the hype he’s received publicly, his teammates took their praise to a whole other level.

During his ascension into the spotlight this season, Williams received outstanding play from his remade offensive line, which included the arrivals of center Drew Dalman and guards Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson. On the outside, the Bears have been led by right tackle Darnell Wright, who has cemented himself as a franchise cornerstone, and when meeting with reporters to close out the season, he sung the praises of his second-year quarterback.

“He was great, there were games where he single-handedly won us the game,” Wright said via CHGO. “He’s the best quarterback I’ve ever played with, for sure. I’m happy he’s going to be my quarterback next year as well. One thing I’ve learned about him, he’ll do whatever it takes to win. I’ve seen that through training camp, OTAs, practice, it doesn’t matter what he needs to get better at, whatever he thinks he needs to get better at, he will do those things. I know that.”

Williams not only made incredible growth in his development under first-year head coach Ben Johnson, but he clearly has earned a high-level amount of respect from his teammates. While Wright is not responsible for protecting his blind side, he did face some of the top edge rushers in the NFL. Williams and Wright are both anchors of the offense, and they’ll need to be on the same page as the offense looks to make even bigger strides in 2026.
