The relationship between the New York Giants‘ incoming head coach, John Harbaugh, and franchise quarterback Jaxson Dart is off to a good start.
The two met for nearly two hours last week, and the conversation was one that invigorated both parties. It went on for so long that Giants executives had to break it up to continue their own pre-hiring interview.
Harbaugh said that Dart’s presence was a determining factor in his taking his talents to East Rutherford.
“That’s kind of a big deal. I’m excited about Jaxson Dart,” Harbaugh said during his introductory press conference this week in New Jersey. “You build your team around your quarterback. You build your team around your players and what they do well. I like the way he plays. I like his talent, skill set, all the things he’s accomplished, but more than that, I like who he is and what he’s about.
“To me, he’s about football. This young guy loves football. He wants to talk football all the time and that’s kind of what I like doing too. So, I think we’re going to have a lot of great conversations. I can’t wait to get started with him.”

After his introductory press conference, Harbaugh told NFL Network that his meeting with Dart left him wanting to run through a brick wall.
Dart is equally as excited and motivated.
“I think the first thing is that you want a coach to obviously have all the confidence in you and to believe in you, and to just, like, have that feeling,” Dart told the New York Post. “I think it says a lot for him that he could have gone anywhere, he could have any job, and he picked this one.”
Giant fans are thrilled. After a dozen years of uncertainty, they finally have that coach-quarterback relationship that leads to championships.
