MADISON, (WKOW) — The Pittsburgh Steelers are planning to hire Mike McCarthy as their next head coach, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

McCarthy brings 18 seasons of NFL coaching experience, including 13 seasons as head coach of the Green Bay Packers from 2006 to 2018 with a record of 125-77-2. The Packers fired McCarthy in December 2018.

In January 2020, McCarthy was officially hired as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. He led the team from 2020 through 2024 before parting ways with the organization after the two sides failed to reach a contract extension.

Now, the Steelers are expected to turn to McCarthy to lead the franchise moving forward.
