One of the stars of Indiana’s rise to the top of college football is off to the NFL.
Mikail Kamara, a starter at defensive end for the past two seasons at Indiana, announced his intention to declare for the 2026 NFL Draft on Saturday shortly after the Hoosiers’ national championship celebration at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington. He previously put off declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft last offseason to pursue the very national championship Indiana won last week.

Kamara departs Bloomington as one of the most productive and decorated defensive players in program history. His 10 sacks in 2024 are tied with Indiana legend Adewale Ogunleye’s 1997 total, ranking fifth among single seasons. He transitioned from end to the stud position in 2025, a hybrid between an end and outside linebacker. His raw statistical production decreased, but he lead the Big Ten in total pressures created per Pro Football Focus.
Now he looks to bring those years of proven production to the professional ranks.
