A former Carolina Panthers head coach might soon find himself back in the NFL.
According to Connor Hughes of SNY, Frank Reich has been linked to the New York Jets in their search for a new offensive coordinator. The 64-year-old has spent the last two years at Stanford University, where he has served as the program’s interim head coach and senior advisor.
Reich’s last NFL gig came in 2023, as the head coach of the Panthers. But that tenure would prove to be the league’s shortest since the 1970 merger, as he was fired 11 games in following a 1-10 start.
Not long after his dismissal, Reich spoke with The Charlotte Observer, and told reporter Scott Fowler that he believed his brief stint in Carolina might’ve been the final act of his NFL journey.
“It was a great opportunity,” Reich said. “The way the doors opened up for it was amazing. But there’s not always a storybook ending…. I also take comfort and find peace and strength that there is a next chapter of my life.”
