The Philadelphia Eagles need a new offensive coordinator after letting go of Kevin Patullo, and they reportedly already have their eyes on notable candidates.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on Sunday that “the Eagles requested to interview Cowboys OC Klayton Adams for their offensive coordinator job but Dallas blocked the request.”

On Thursday, Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle became the latest name to be requested by the Eagles for an interview, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Eagles have been linked to multiple names after parting ways with Patullo.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported the Eagles expressed interest in former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard for the position on Jan. 19.

Former New York Giants coach Brian Daboll has also been targeted for the role, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

MMQB’s Albert Breer reported on Jan. 18 that the Eagles interviewed Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter on Jan. 17. Cooter was on head coach Nick Sirianni’s staff in 2021.

Fowler reported former Giants interim head coach Mike Kafka interviewed on Jan. 17 as well.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported Jan. 14 that Philadelphia started “reaching out to candidates” and has Daboll and former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel “at the top of their list.” However, McDaniel took the offensive coordinator role with the Los Angeles Chargers, according to Schefter.

Philadelphia moved on from Patullo after just one season as the offensive coordinator, which ended with a Wild Card loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The offense was 19th in points and 24th in yards, which prevented the team from winning back-to-back Super Bowls despite having an excellent defense.

But there is plenty of talent in place with Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown, among others.

Hiring the right OC could help unlock those weapons, and Daboll has a track record of offensive success even if their time as head coaches didn’t go exactly as planned.

Daboll was previously an offensive assistant for the New England Patriots and New York Jets in addition to being the OC for the Browns (2009-10), Dolphins (2011), Kansas City Chiefs (2012) and Buffalo Bills (2018-21).

He was the Giants’ head coach from 2022 until he was fired this season and had just one playoff appearance, but his 2020 and 2021 Bills finished in the top five in the league in scoring and yards.

Daboll could see the OC opening in Philadelphia as an opportunity to prove themselves as play-callers once again and perhaps land another head-coaching opportunity down the line, especially if they unlock a talented offense following this season’s struggles.
