The New York Giants are hiring Chris Horton as their special teams coordinator, reuniting him with newly appointed head coach John Harbaugh.
Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reports that Horton, who has served as the Baltimore Ravens’ special teams coordinator since 2019, will follow Harbaugh to New York.
Horton previously worked as Baltimore’s assistant special teams coach from 2014 to 2018, giving him over a decade of direct familiarity with Harbaugh’s system and philosophy.
Under Horton’s direction, the Ravens’ special teams consistently ranked among the NFL’s best, excelling in areas like kick coverage, returns, and field goals.
Horton also has prior ties to the Giants organization. As a player, he signed with the team in March of 2012, and was part of their 90-man offseason roster before his release in August of that year.

A former safety, Horton was a seventh-round pick by Washington in 2008, earning All-Rookie honors during a three-year tenure there. He transitioned to coaching at UCLA before joining Baltimore’s staff.
The move bolsters Harbaugh’s rebuilding effort with a trusted lieutenant known for discipline and scheme expertise.
