According to the Washington Post, the FBI is investigating the death of former Indianapolis Colts owner, Jim Irsay.
Irsay, who was the owner and CEO of the Colts since 1997 passed away in May of 2025 from cardiac arrest associated with pneumonia and previously diagnosed heart conditions, according to the death certificate signed by his doctor, Dr. Harry Haroutunian. Yet it is the review of the post report that connects substances, records relating to his death, and the relationship with the California-based doctor.
When Irsay passed, he was in California visiting Dr. Haroutunian to receive treatment. Colts chief legal officer Dan Emerson said that the team has not been served as subpoena or been contacted by the FBI according to the Post story.
The Colts have yet to issue a statement on the matter.
The report also says that Haroutunian provided Irsay with large opioid prescriptions in the last two years, including Ketamine in late 2024. The drug, which notable took the life of actor Matthew Perry in 2023, is an FDA approved drug that is used in hospitals as an anesthetic but has also been used to treat mental health. The drug has been known to increase blood pressure and heart rate when used.
Ketamine was not connected to Irsay’s cause of on the death certificate.
