Former Penn State and current Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Rasheed Walker was arrested Friday at LaGuardia Airport after he attempted to check a bag that contained a handgun and ammo.

The 25-year-old was arrested after he told a Delta employee that his bag had a locked box with a firearm inside of it, according to the New York Post. Port Authority responded and found a 9mm Glock with 36 rounds of ammo in the box, according to the report.

Walker was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, per the Post.

“It was in a locked box and he disclosed it to the people at the airport,” Walker’s attorney, Arthur Aidala, told the Post. “He told a person from Delta he was traveling with a firearm. He mistakenly thought because he had a licensed firearm and it was locked in a box that he was able to travel with it. We are confident that the case will be dismissed.”

The 6-foot-6, 324 pounder played for Penn State from 2018 through 2021. He was an All-Big Ten pick in 2020 and 2021.

Walker was then selected in the seventh-round, 249th-overall, in the 2022 draft by Green Bay.

He has played in 52 games, starting 48 during his time with the Packers.
