The Buffalo Bills continued their search for a new head coach this weekend.
The search comes after the team decided to part ways with Sean McDermott after nine years at the helm.
Seven candiates been confirmed to have discussed the job with members of the Bills’ front office, along with quarterback Josh Allen, who has been part of the search and is participating in meetings with candidates.
In a post on social media on Saturday, the team said it had interviewed Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver and Washington Commanders running backs coach Anthony Lynn.
Weaver was the Bills’ defensive line coach in 2013 under former head coach Doug Marrone. Lynn was on Rex Ryan’s Bills’ staff in 2015 and ’16, eventually becoming offensive coordinator as well as serving as the interim head coach during the final game of the 2016 season.
On Sunday, the team announced they interviewed Grant Udinski, currently the offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Bills have also interviewed Philip Rivers, the quarterback who ended his five-year retirement and finished this season with the Indianapolis Colts, former Giants coach Brian Daboll, who previously served as the team’s offensive coordinator; current offensive coordinator Joe Brady; and Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo.
Owner Terry Pegula decided to fire McDermott after a 33-30 overtime loss at Denver in the divisional round of the playoffs. McDermott led the Bills to seven straight 10-win seasons but never took the team to the Super Bowl.
Pegula determined Buffalo had hit what he called “the proverbial playoff wall” under McDermott. The Bills became the NFL’s first team to win a playoff game in six straight years without a Super Bowl appearance.
