The Kansas City Chefs have announced their special team awards for the 2025 season. Patrick Mahomes was awarded the prestigious Derrick Thomas Team MVP Award for his efforts on and off the field to lead the team.
During a challenging season, Mahomes remained a constant professional, keeping optimism within the team.
“I mean, our ceiling is playing in the Super Bowl. We’ve got all the same guys, and we added players. But at the end of the day, you’ve got to go out and do it on a week-in, week-out basis,” said Mahomes after the Week 13 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, “We can beat anybody, but we’ve shown that we can lose to anybody. So, we’ve got to be more consistent. It starts with me being consistent throughout the entire game, not in just big moments.”
Mahomes had another strong season with 4,009 total yards split between 3,587 passing and 422 rushing. He also contributed 27 total touchdowns, 22 passing, and 5 rushing. The two-time league MVP was named as an alternate for the 2026 Pro Bowl Games, although he wouldn’t be available due to knee surgery.
All of these awards were voted on by the players themselves, reflecting the locker room’s true feelings about their starting quarterback.
