The Kansas City Chiefs were close to acquiring an impact running back at the trade deadline last season. The New York Jets reportedly offered Breece Hall for draft compensation, but the deal was abandoned.

In a recent article for Pro Football Sports Network, Ryan Guthrie detailed a potential idea of Hall leaving the Jets to join the Chiefs this offseason.

“The Chiefs know they need more juice in the backfield. Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco aren’t enough,” wrote Guthrie, “Kansas City nearly traded for Breece Hallat the deadline, and the fit is obvious. His pass-catching ability gives Patrick Mahomes a dangerous outlet as Mahomes continues working back from injury. Hall could immediately rank among the league leaders in RB receiving production.”

During the 2025 season, Hall rushed for 1,065 yards to go along with four touchdowns. He was also effective in the passing game with 36 receptions for 350 yards for a Jets team that struggled offensively without consistent quarterback efficiency.

The Chiefs are likely in the market for a high-caliber running back this offseason, either through the NFL Draft or free agency. The addition of Hall would solve many problems if the front office could swing a realistic deal.
