GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Packers have reportedly hired former Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon as their defensive coordinator.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared the news on X Sunday, attributing it to a source.
Before becoming head coach of the Cardinals, Gannon was the defensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles. He was fired from his head coaching position after a third season with Arizona ended in a 3-14 record.
Gannon’s reported hiring comes after Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley was hired by the Dolphins as their new head coach. Hafley spent two seasons in Green Bay. Packers players, who spoke highly of Hafley, had been preparing for the possibility he would become a head coach.
Gannon now takes over a Green Bay team that went 9-8-1 in the 2025 season and lost to the Bears in the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs.
The 43-year-old Gannon finished his tenure with the Cardinals with a 15-36 record.
